Empirico, led by Daniel, delivers specialist behaviour support tailored to help individuals live safer, more independent lives.
Empirico is a Queensland-based behaviour support provider established by Daniel, a Behaviour Support Practitioner with over 20 years of experience in the disability and community services sector.
The service is dedicated to helping NDIS participants live safer, more independent, and more fulfilling lives through high-quality, evidence-based behaviour support tailored to individual needs.
Empirico believes that every person has the right to a good quality of life and the opportunity to pursue personal goals. This belief underpins all aspects of the service.
With the right support, many of the barriers that prevent people from living well can be reduced or overcomeโincluding behaviours that place individuals at risk or limit their opportunities. Empirico works to understand what these behaviours communicate and responds in ways that are ethical, practical, and person-centred.
Support strategies are designed to improve quality of life, promote independence, and support progress toward outcomes that matter to the individual. Participants, families, and providers are engaged as partners in creating meaningful, lasting change.
Empiricoโs approach is grounded in:
– Positive Behaviour Support (PBS)
– Trauma-informed practice
– Neuroaffirming principles
– Therapeutic models such as DBT, CBT, ACT, and Positive Psychology
Each individualโs needs and capabilities are thoroughly assessed in collaboration with participants and their support teams to ensure strategies are aligned with personal goals and everyday environments. Plans are designed to be practical, ethical, and tailored to each personโs unique context.
Empirico finds that in many cases, when a personโs quality of life is improved and their individual needs are understood, immediate and meaningful changes are achieved.
Empirico combines deep sector experience with a strong commitment to ethical, person-centred practice. Support extends beyond writing behaviour support plans.
Empirico works with individuals, families, and support teams to ensure strategies are understood, implemented effectively, and refined over time to remain practical and sustainable.
This approach is grounded in real-world insight and a dedication to delivering support that is not only evidence-based but also responsive to the everyday realities faced by those receiving and providing support.
Empirico provides guidance to both providers and families navigating the complex requirements of behaviour support compliance. This includes support with:
– Authorisation of regulated restrictive practices
– Reportable incident management
– NDIS Commission compliance and documentation
Support is grounded in practical experience with both the NDIS regulatory framework and state-based legislative requirements. Empirico assists in understanding obligations, preparing documentation, and implementing systems that meet quality and safeguarding standards.
Consultation may include assistance with restrictive practice applications, incident reporting processes, and developing internal procedures that promote safe, ethical, and person-centred support.
Daniel began his career as a support worker, assisting individuals with complex communication needs, intellectual disabilities, and behaviours of concern. Daniel has supported individuals transitioning from incarceration and secure mental health facilities under forensic and involuntary treatment orders, helping them reintegrate into the community.
Danielโs practice is informed by evidence-based frameworks including Positive Behaviour Support (PBS), trauma-informed practice, neuroaffirming approaches, and therapeutic models such as DBT, CBT, ACT, and Positive Psychology. He holds a Bachelor of Psychological Science (Honours), Certificate IVs in Training & Assessment, Frontline Management, and Disabilities, and has completed additional professional development in crisis intervention, suicide prevention, and functional behaviour assessment.
In addition to direct support, Daniel has trained and supervised other Behaviour Support Practitioners and consulted with providers on restrictive practice compliance and NDIS accreditation. His focus is on empowering individuals and support teams to deliver consistent, person-centred services that help participants overcome barriers and achieve their goals.
